What Is the Best Bait, to Get Predators to Come in Front of a Trail Camera?

Getting big into trailcameras, and I am looking to try and get more predator pictures, and I was wondering what kind of bait I could use to get pictures of coyotes, foxes, bobcats, etc..

The easiest thing to do is to (if it’s legal where you are) shoot rabbits with a .22 or other small gun. Slit open the skin on the rabbit’s front, as if you were going to gut it, but don’t gut it. This will just make the smell of blood very strong. Then, all you have to do is put it in front of your camera.

check the trapping stores for scents ! they cant stand intruders in there area! use to trap and would save the urine to bait my traps. worked much better than food and didnt bring in dogs and cats

if your a deer hunter use the carcass after you butcher your deer. if you know a trapper ask for beaver and muskrat carcasses. no predator can resist any of these.

try a live rabbit, mouse or rat in a cage or a can of tuna or sardines.

You need to put out food that they want to eat. Also, do NOT put out a trapped live animal….they will move about and continuously trip the motion detector on the camera and will just fill up the cameras memory with images of the bait.

If you leave bait laying on the ground, the first animal to come by will carry it off. Try making a set for a trap, without actually setting the trap. Dig a hole in the ground at a 45 degree angle and stuff bait (meat, prepared bait, etc..) in the hole and stuff some grass into the hole. Then use a call lure, which you can buy from any trapping supply store online, and place some on a cotton ball. Put the cotton ball in a tree branch close to the set. The lure will bring them in, and they will work at the dirthole to get the bait. This will get you some interesting pics.
