Ward Plant’s — New Long Reach, backhoe excavator in action on the 3rd June 2010, de-silting settlement ponds and ditches at a quarry in the central belt of Scotland. Ward Plant’s Doosan DX 520 SLR, weighs 55 tonne and has a super long reach — (20 metre), with a large bucket (up to 1.5). This allows the trucks to be loaded quickly and efficiently. During the hire where this video was taken, the site management reported, that the hire time had reduced by half, compared to the last de-silting operation, due solely to this new excavator. Some typical applications for the Super Long Reach backhoe are in Quarries and Surface Mines, carrying out de-silting of settlement ponds and lagoons (as per the video).
