My Friend Fell Off a Horse!! Its Bad!! Please Help!!?

In my lesson, the barn owner was using his bobcat to plow shavings into a pile. My friend Hannah, has a horse named Hank, he is very noise sensitive. She was riding him bareback and she is an advanced rider. Hank heard the bobcat and reared and threw her into the air. She stayed on for a little while, then fell on the ground. I put my horse Peanut away and ran back in to hold Hank. A few seconds later she was moaning and then began violently shaking. She was holding her rib and her shoulder was twisted. I ran out and put Hank away and took off his polo wraps and bridle and came back in to see Hannah sobbing and thrashing in the sand, my instructor next to her. I went over and she was having a hard time breathing. We called ’911′ and shortly after, heard loud sirens and a firetruck, ambulance, and police car showed up in the barn’s drive. My instructor said "Ok Hannah, the EMT are here, maybe they will be hot." and Hannah laughed. They asked her simple questions like her name, how old she was, where she lived, and who the presadent was. She got them all right. The rolled her onto a table and put on a oxagen mask and a neck brace and clipped her in. That was the last I saw of her, ever since I can’t stop crying, I don’t know if she is okay! I don’t have my instructors number to see how she is, she went with her.
What should I do?!
Im really scared for her.

If she answered all the questions correctly and laughed at your instructors joke she has No altered mental status, Which is a good thing. So you can rule out brain trauma besides maybe a head ache. The reason she couldn’t breathe was most likely getting the air knocked out of her when thrown from the horse. No big deal. Possibly a broken or cracked rib. As for her shoulder, Maybe dislocated for broken. She will definitely be fine to ride again soon. You are crying because she is your good friend and you couldn’t stand to see her in pain, on a back board and taken away by an ambulance. Just be grateful her injuries weren’t more severe.

Here is what you say. You have 2 choices get in my car so I can take you to the hospital or I call 911. Then you know you are a true friend. Never wait until tomorrow. Your friend could be bleeding internally. good luck now GO!!

I took emt classes in the military and know they did what they could, at the hospital she should get all the aide she needs. I’m sorry it happened it sounds scary. But, good thing is the shaking is not abnormal- her body was in shock from the pain and the scare of it all. At the worst she may need surgery for her arm, possibly also if her ribs punctured something or if she seriously harmed her spinal column. Its good that she’s concious, and though this is not professional guaranteed medical advice!!! In the long run she may have a lil arm pain, and the fear of getting on a horse again. I know it could be a lot worse and the hospital care should be help enough. I hope she has a speedy recovery!

Surely you could contact her/ check her condition via the local hospital?
I’m pretty sure if I got thrown from a horse and hurt myself I wouldn’t sit still and quietly. The thing is, it’s highly unlikely NOT to be okay after something like that, unless the injury is spinal, in which case she would have been still and not moving. The breathing problems may have come from having the wind knocked out of her, landing on her back. Temporary.
The fact that she retained a sense of humor and could answer questions is also a good sign. At worst she’ll have a broken bone or dislocated shoulder or something, nothing life threatening.
