John Deere 4200 Tractor

Here is the John Deere 4200 Tractor/Loader/Backhoe from work. It has a 28 HP John Deere diesel engine (that doesn’t sound like much, but trust me, it is more than enough to get the job done), with a John Deere 47 backhoe and John Deere 420 loader. It also has a folding ROPS and quick attach backhoe and loader attachments. It is used by a couple of idiots at work that essentially have no idea how to use it and it is starting to fall into disrepair. That is why when I go full speed at full throttle, the engine drops about 1250-1500 rpm and pours black smoke. Also, all of the valves are a little leaky and all of the hydraulics leak down over night. Oh, and by the way, it is NOT for sale…

How long do you want the engine to last? with the RPMs that high it wont last very long.

@Drue192 You must be kidding? That engine can go 5000hrs no problem at full throttle/load. What RPM do you think these run at when cutting 6′ swaths of overgrown grass along the interstate??? Take a look at the temp gauge at the end of the video- It has barley moved off the needle. These can run at 2600rpm for a year straight under load, I think this guy will be all right Showing it off in his 4 minute video-

@flguy32501 If you notice the over rev light is on. Diesel engines are not made to run at 2900-3000 RPMs all the time that is a great way to blow them up. 2600 is fine. I personally never run a Diesel over 2000 RPMs

@Drue192 over rev light? Where? The engine is governed and there was no run away situation in this vid. high rpm limit depends on cylinder size. depends on cylinder size. I know you are not talking about the pto light- are you? The yellow marking on the tach is where the rpm needs to be if pto attachments are to be used at the recommended speed. some diesels are meant to run at 10,000rpm. It all depends on the injection system and cylinder size.
