How Will I Test Solenoids or Defects?

As a new cadet, I’m very interested in troubleshooting of electrical components such as this. Last time, I’ve encountered several problems on how to test the solelnoids in our Automatic Transmission for Excavator Crawler, if it is still functioning or not.

when you try to start your vehicle if you hear a clicking sound coming from the solenoid the solenoid is bad and will need to be replaced there is no way to test it Good Luck

Re: above , if you already have it out, & apart , Just connect jumper cables to it & then " no clickie……" Same goes for the starter .

Apply 12VDC (or the normal operating voltage) directly to the solenoid. It should "click" (aka, engage) with voltage applied.

    No clickie means no workie.

First, check connections from battery to solenoid, then solenoid to starter, make sure battery is charged(cold cranking amps).
